More often you would need to edit
.htaccess file (most common file for WordPress) and you could not find it in your web space.
.htaccess is a hidden file and by default cPanel file manager does not show hidden files. All hidden files begin with a dot, for example:
.htaccess,
.cpanel,
.ssh .trash .htpasswds etc.
If you want to edit any of these hidden files and they do not show up at cPanel file manager, please select an option
show hidden files while accessing cPanel File manager. Here are the steps.
- Log into your cPanel.
- Under Files section, select File Manager menu.

- cPanel will popup a message asking you where you would like land within your website directories. In the same window, you will see the checkbox asking if you would like to show hidden files. Check the checkbox Show Hidden Files and click Go.
If you do not receive pop up of directory selection, previously you might have set an option of
Skip this question, and always open this directory in the future when I choose to open “File Manager." To receive directory selection popup again, scroll down to the bottom of the page on the cPanel and click on the link named
Reset All Interface Settings.
